Marvel Keepsake Collections

In the early 1990s Comic Images producec various limited edition oversized card "packets" called Keepsake Collections. The cards were measured roughly 6" x 9". Each collection came packaged in a large sealed envelope and was numbered, with a limited run of 5000. The card topics range from various comic sets to fantasy art. Only the Marvel-related sets are listed here.

• Amazing Spider-Man, Carnage, Venom (1992): This collection contains six oversized black and white cards. Three of the cards feature Carnage poses and three reproduce the covers to Amazing Spider-Man comic issues #361-363. Included is a 6-card panel (trading card size) duplicating the artwork in color, along with a special blank-backed prism trading card of Venom. Characters: Carnage, J.J. Jameson, Spider-Man, Venom.

• Ghost Rider (1990): This collection features artwork by Javier Saltares and contains six oversized black and white cards. Five of the cards reproduce the covers to Ghost Rider comic issues #1-5 and the 6th shows original artwork made specially for this collection - also signed by Javier Saltares. Included is a 6-card panel (trading card size) duplicating the artwork in color. Characters: Ghost Rider, Punisher.

• Infinity Gauntlet (1991): This collection features artwork by George Perez and contains siz oversized black and white cards reproducing the covers to The Infinity Gauntlet 6-issue comic series. Included is also a 6-card panel (trading card size) showing the artwork in color. Characters: Thanos plus most of the main Marvel characters.

• Peepsake Collection: The Cheesecakes and Beefcakes of Marvel (1991): This collection features artwork by Jim Lee, Jackson Guice, Kevin Nowlan, George Perez, and Mike Zeck. The set contains six black and white large cards, five which reproduce artwork seen in "Marvel's Illustrated Swimsuit Special" and the 6th card showcases original artwork by Mike Zeck made specially for this collection - also signed. Included is a 6-card panel (trading card size) showcasing the artwork in color. Characters: Beast, Captain America, Hulk, Namor, She-Hulk, Storm, Thing, Wolverine.

• Punisher: War Zone (1992): This collection features artwork by John Romita Jr. and contains six oversized black and white cards. Five of the cards reproduce the covers to Punisher: War Zone comic issues #1-5 and the 6th reproduces a splash page. Included is a 6-card panel (trading card size) showcasing the artwork in color. Characters: Punisher.

• Spider-Man (1990): This collection features art by Todd McFarlane and contains six large black and white cards reproducing the covers to Spider-Man comic issues #1-5 along with the variant art to issue #1. Included is a 6-card (trading card size) color panel showcasing the large cards in color.

• Spider-Man II (1991): This collection features art by Todd McFarlane and contains six large black and white cards. Five of the cards reproduce the covers to Spider-Man comic issues #6-10 and the 6th card displays artwork first seen in the McFarlane Series I trading card set. Included is a 6-card (trading card size) color panel showcasing the large cards in color. Characters: Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, Wendigo, Wolverine.

• Spider-Man: Revenge of the Sinister Six (1992): This collection features art by Erik Larson and contains six large black and white cards reproducing the covers to Revenge of the Sinister Six Spider-Man storyline in comic issues #18-23. Included is a 6-card (trading card size) color panel showcasing the large cards in color. Characters: Deathlok, Demogoblin, Electro, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, Hulk, Nova, Spider-Man.

• Spirits of Vengeance (1992): This set contains six black and white large cards, four of which reproduce the covers to the Ghost Rider: Spirits of Vengeance comic issues #1-4, and two are splash pages. Included is a 6-card (trading card size) color panel showcasing the large cards in color, and a special blank-backed prism trading card. Characters: Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze.

• X-Force (1991): This collection features art by Rob Liefeld and contains six large black and white cards reproducing the covers to X-Force comic issues #1-5. The 6th card shows original artwork made specifically for this set. Included is a 6-card color panel (trading card size) reproducing the artwork of the larger cards. Characters: Blob, Boom Boom, Cable, Deadpool, Domino, Feral, Juggernaut, Kane, Pyro, Shatterstar, Spider-Man, Toad, Warpath, Wolfsbane.

• X-Force II (1992): This collection features art by Rob Liefeld and contains six large black and white cards of the X-Force team, two of which are reprints of X-Force comic covers #6 and #7. Included is a 6-[trading card size] card color panel reproducing the artwork of the larger cards. One of the large cards contains original artwork made for this set and is autographed by Liefeld. Characters: Boom Boom, Cable, Cannonball, Domino, Feral, Shatterstar, Siryn, Warpath, Wolfsbane.

• X-Men (1991): Included in this set are four black and white reproductions of the 4-part X-Men #1 (Vol. 2) comic covers, two splash pages each with an ensemble of characters, and a 6-card panel (trading card size) of the oversized cards in color. All artwork by Jim Lee. Characters: Apocalypse, Archangel, Beast, Black Queen, Colossus, Cyclops, Gambit, Havok, Juggernaut, Magneto, Mastermind, Mr. Sinister, Omega Red, Prof. X, Psylocke, Rogue, Sabretooth, Shaw, Storm, Toad, Wolverine.

• X-Men II (1992): This collection features artwork by Jim Lee and contains six black and white large cards, three of which reproduce the covers to X-Men #2-4 (Vol. 2) comic issues, two are splash pages each with an ensemble of characters, and the 6th large card contains original artwork made specially for this collection.
